February 14, 2025
Morrice Family,
I am writing to provide an update on our bond project and the upcoming construction work planned for the district. At the January Board of Education meeting, the Board approved several bids for Bid Pack Two for work scheduled in the summer of 2025, including concrete, general trades, fencing, acoustical work, painting, masonry, and pickleball court surfacing.
As previously communicated, the Bid Pack Two bids came in $1.2 million over budget, primarily due to inflation and rising costs, particularly related to HVAC and air conditioning work. After carefully considering multiple scenarios, the Board of Education determined at the February Board meeting that it is in the best interest of the district to remove the remaining air conditioning work (high school gym, locker rooms, cafeteria & elementary gym and cafeteria) from the summer of 2025 scope and instead plan to reevaluate it for the summer of 2026, when there will be a clearer picture of the district’s remaining bond funds.
Since the remaining air conditioning work was identified as a lower priority item as part of our comprehensive strategic planning process, the Board will also discuss gathering additional community feedback on how to best prioritize the remaining work with the available funds. Your input will be valuable in guiding these next steps as we plan for the summer of 2026.
The final bids for electrical, mechanical, asphalt and flooring will be approved at the March Board of Education meeting. Once these are finalized, we will provide a more detailed timeline for the summer 2025 construction schedule, as we anticipate our buildings will be closed for a portion of the summer to accommodate this work.
We appreciate the community’s support as we work to enhance our facilities and create the best possible learning environment for our students. We are excited for these improvements and look forward to sharing more details soon.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
Sincerely,
Rob Pouch, Superintendent
